OctoberEighteen is a teeny-tiny independent, Hong Kong, slow fashion brand. Founded out of my interest and love for dress making, focuses on sustainability, femininity and individuality. Sourcing dead-stock fabrics, design and creates clothing for the modern women, to be worn without the constraints of seasonal trends and dress codes.
From sourcing fabrics, designing, to cutting, sewing, ironing, packaging, posting orders, Oh! as well as answering your emails and social media, everything is done by one woman: me :) It takes approximately 6-7 hours for a dress to be made from start to finish (Some garments takes up to 12 hours to make). Every item is handcrafted to order from scratch with love and care in very limited quantity by me in my studio.
OctoberEighteen uses majority dead-stock fabrics: Fabrics that are already produced but not used, from various designer fashion houses and factories, create clothing based on the nature of the fabric itself. All fabrics I use are sourced according to usage and cut cautiously to prevent fabric waste.
The design process starts with the fabric itself and local fabric markets are one of the fountain of my inspiration. Fabric hunting became one of my favourite time.Depending on the print, colour or fabric type I then decide on the designs, testing with muslin, adjust patterns if necessary, puzzle the pattern pieces onto the fabric to minimise waste, cut and Sew! Each of the garments takes between 6-12 hours to make. Once assembled, I'll check for loose threads, press and, finally, packed ready for shipment to you.
I hope you’ll love your OctoberEighteen pieces as much as I enjoyed making it ♥︎
